Hi Max....your writing has become so smooth and you tell such a good story. I really enjoyed that one.

I have moved to Port Royal, SC (right at Parris Island) and I live on the Beaufort River. I am thinking about getting a kayak. Too late for wings!!

Would love to see you two....

Dear Mr. Grogan,

Thank you for the lovely story of your friendship. If you're ever in Maryland, please look me up. Dad is 84 and would love to fly again! We just turned in the forms for his paper 1957 license to be reissued in plastic. I'm sure when it arrives he'll be ready to go.

This story touched mt heart. I am a pilot and a member of the Heart of Carolina Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. Sadly, we are losing so many of those great folk due to advanced aging. Just as Max did with Clayton, I've sat with a few of the original Tuskegee Airmen and enjoyed their wonderful stories, told with great passion, conviction, and compassion. Thank you, Max, for being such a wonderful friend to Clayton, and for sharing the adventure with us.

What a beautiful and touching story. Sylvia, thank you for sharing it with us! Max, thank you for giving such a fine gift to Clayton - human connection is the most powerful force in the world, and it's so wonderful you two were able to fly together. I have read this story over several times and found myself with tears in my eyes each time. May I be so lucky as Clayton when I am an old pilot myself.

Incredible story, thank you so much for sharing! It's always one of the coolest aspects of our hobby to give someone the joy of flying who wouldn't otherwise get it, but to some people like Mr. Clayton it's the ultimate gift. Well done!

Mr. Grogan,
Thank you for the great story. It brought back alot of memories about a special man in my life that passed away two years ago. He was also a true aviator who started flying the month he graduated from High School. Flew as a barnstormer and retired in 1973 from Western Airlines on the Boeing 707. He wrote down alot of his stories and gave them to me. If you will send me your information I'll share them with you. Thanks again. John
